LEIRBLAA

Leirblaa combines jazz and improvised music with elements from the singer/songwriter genre, and poetical lyrics in Trondheim accent. Vocals, woodwinds, vibraphone, drums and electronics make their sound dreamy and complex, complementing the themes of existentialism, nature and human relations in a mesmerizing way.

Jakob Nordli Leirvik: vocals, electronics, composition

Jenny Frøysa: baritone sax, bass clarinet, electronics

Amund Storløkken Åse: vibraphone

August Glännestrand: drums, electronics

New thoughts on being a touring musician

Since 2021, Leirblaa has focused on how to create new ways of being touring musicians with consciousness of the environmental impact of traveling and being a positive force in local communities. Founder Jakob Nordli Leirvik came up with the idea of local tours, with the aim to decrease traveling and make music available for people who are not usually coming to the big concert venues in the city centers. This led to a two weeks long tour, with 7 concerts just within Trondheim and 6 in the rural areas of Trøndelag. Since that we have repeated this project, and in April/May 2024 we are going on a local split tour in Trøndelag and Innlandet county with Norwegian folk music duo Plassen/Qvam.
